The first Design Dialogue Days begin with a simple idea: to look at the city and the world around us. To rediscover the objects we use every day, without necessarily having stopped to wonder who designed them, why they take the form they do, what needs they serve, and how their design ultimately shapes the way we live.

 

And the city becomes the museum!

At the heart of the initiative is Aristotelous Square, where, on November 1st, an unexpected pop-up design museum will take shape. A temporary space, open to everyone, becomes the starting point for the public to discover DNA Thessaloniki.

The pop-up design museum is housed in three thematic containers, each offering a different perspective on the world of design.

The first invites visitors to look at familiar everyday objects from a fresh perspective. In the second, objects appear to emerge from the cinematic, red-hued universe of Pedro Almodóvar. The third presents iconic objects that have left their mark on the history of design.

Visitors can explore the installation free of charge, with the help of DNA Thessaloniki’s volunteers, before setting off on a different kind of walk through the city’s historic center.

 

The museum does not end at the square. This is where a curated design walk begins, transforming 30 selected shop windows into small storytelling spaces.

Objects we use in our everyday lives take on new meaning. By discovering the stories behind their design, the people who created them, and the needs they were designed to address, we begin to see them differently.

As part of the initiative, another small pop-up installation will be hosted at Minas Kosmidis Architects, where designer textiles enter into dialogue with design objects, creating another unexpected encounter around design.

And it all begins as it should: with a celebration!

On November 1st, Aristotelous Square will kick off the initiative with a major party featuring a DJ set curated by Street Outdoors, marking the beginning of a week filled with design, walks, discoveries and encounters across the city.

A week in which Thessaloniki is invited not simply to visit an exhibition, but to walk, observe, discover and participate.
